What look can't Rihanna pull off? The "Diamonds" singer looked cool and collected on Thursday, Jan. 31, as she made her way through New York City on her way to a flight bound for Los Angeles.

The 24-year-old star showed off her asymmetrical punk-rock hairstyle (the left side of her head is shaved while long wavy extensions billow to her right, during a stroll through the city. She topped off the look with a colorful shirt featuring a car design and an oversized fur vest. The singer also wore loose-fitting jeans and tan desert boots.

The songstress is no stranger to attention-grabbing hairstyles, having rocked edgy side-swept bangs, bright red curls and a demure bob at different points of her career.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the Barbados beauty opened up about her controversial relationship with Chris Brown, 23.

"I decided it was more important for me to be happy," she told the magazine about her decision to rekindle their romance. "I wasn't going to let anybody's opinion get in the way of [my happiness]."

"Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake," she continued. "After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it." The pair, who famously split in 2009 after Brown physically assaulted Rihanna during an argument prior to the 2009 Grammys, began quietly seeing each other again in late 2011.

Brown split with his girlfriend, 24-year-old model Karrueche Tran, back in October 2012. The model spoke to Rolling Out magazine recently, discussing her point of view in the messy love triangle.

"Honestly, all I want is happiness. There was a lot of dysfunction and negativity. I just want to be happy," she told the magazine. "I hope people can learn from my story. I want to be remembered as someone who remained positive through such a negative situation. Regardless of what you're put through or what is going on in your life, keep a positive spirit. That will help you get through it."

As for Rihanna, the songstress knows that her reunion with Brown will be met with plenty of criticism and raised eyebrows, but she told Rolling Stone that she's prepared to face the haters.

"It's different now. We don't have those types of arguments anymore,” she said of how her relationship with Brown has grown up. “We talk about s–t. We value each other. We know exactly what we have now, and we don't want to lose that."
